<HTML>I know that it was strictly forbidden to attack Portugese shipping, don\'t know about Spanish, but it would seem logical. Franco was more or less Hitler\'s ally. Most of the Dutch ships sunk or damaged were tankers, and they were torpedoed in accordance with the order to sink tankers. There were however a few cases where the Dutch ships were not enroute to a British or French port. A few examples are Ameland and Burgerdijk. If AN and BF were \'sink-on-sight\' zones, it would explain these losses.</HTML>
