<HTML>I had a simply amazing trip to Germany last November, and was fortunate enough to be a guest of sorts at the Archiv in Altenbruch. Herr Bredow and many others there treated me VERY kindly! I also had made prior arrangements with Herr Topp for a short visit at his home north of Remagen even before I left the US.

He speaks excellent English. He is a super individual, cheerful, and very friendly and thoughtful.

Unfortunately, he told me no stolen items had been recovered. And he apparently no longer keeps such valuable personal/historical mementos at his own home anymore. (Apparently the items were stolen by a visitor while Herr Topp was answering a phone call in another room---and I would not be surprised if the phone call was part of the \"plot\"---although I didn\'t think to ask if he knew who the caller was.)

I would be happy to forward a letter to him, but wouldn\'t want to give out information in order to protect his privacy. My best suggestion would be to send a letter to the U-Boot-Archiv in Altenbruch--along with an appropriate donation for their time and trouble--and let them forward such a letter to Herr Topp for you.

Regards,
Craig </HTML>
