HMS Trident. This photograph was taken in March 1942. It shows the crew of the submarine HMS Trident which had just returned from patrol off the north coast of Norway. On 23rd February 1942, Trident had torpedoed the German heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen near the Norwegian town of Trondheim. The German ship had her stern blown off and almost sunk. HMS Trident was under the command of Captain G.M. Sladen at the time.
