Hi Peter!

Please go to the Home Page of U-843 on this U-boat Net for further details!

Here is some info that I found about the attacking a/c :

37 Mosquitos of 143, 235, and 248 Sqdns on anti-U-boat patrol in Kattegat
found and destroyed U-804, U-843, and U-1065 on 9 April 1945.
All 3 U-boats were sunk by rockets;U-843 was sunk by a/c from 235 Sqdn.

The defending U-boats put up sufficient fire to cause 3 Mosquitos to land in Sweden
and a recconaissance Mosquito spun into the sea.

Participating a/c:
143 Sqdn:12 a/c using rocket projectiles
235 Sqdn: 9 a/c using rocket projectiles
248 Sqdn: 10 a/c

5 Mosquitos gave Fighter cover.

In Sharpand&Bowyer:Mosquito. Faber&Faber,London 1967;Photograph 109,
there is a picture from these attacks, recorded by the camera of N/143 Sqdn.

Best regards/Anders.
