<HTML>Hi Andrew

U-139 a Type IID boat. Launched on 28/6/40
After completing her operational training with the 1U-Flottille U-139
went on to training duties at 21 U-Flottille.
She become operational from July 16th to 31st August 1941, during
the initial stages of the war against Russia. (Operation Barbarossa)
and was probably one of three German U-boats which waited off
Helsingor to counter any British naval moves.
U-139 was return to 21 U-Flottille in early September 1941 and
served as a school training boat until 2/5/45, when she was scuttled
at Wilhelmshaven. The U-boat was later salvaged after the war and was
broken up and scrapped.
