<HTML>Tom.... as an adjunct to your comment about the mural..... in the E.B. Eddy paper mill in Espanola in Ontario is a very large (3 m. X 5 m.) map of the world painted by Luftwaffe POWs, from memory, in about 1941. They were moved and the mill reopened as a paper mill in 1943.
I saw the mural a few years ago, very impressive. The mill owners have covered it with Plexiglass to protect it, as it is in a main storage warehouse, with lots of forklift traffic.
There is an inset map, showing the British Isles, with all major airfields located exactly. However, the POWs were not so hot on Canadian geography, as the \"you-are-here\" notation is well off.
Another modest mural is in Fort Henry, in Kingston, Ont., where a number of POWs were held. Don\'t know which service they were from though.
