<HTML>I\'d be very grateful for any information or help with the folowing:
I\'ve come across a vague reference (from a reputable and usually accurate historian) for a former SS officer being landed by U boat in Scotland at the end of the war.
One source says the U boat was U 292 and came to England although that vessel appears to have been sunk in May 44. (U 293 however does seem to have surrendered at Loch Ailsh)
In 1945 the officer, Helmut Tanzmann, appears to have been in Flensburg and may have come from Norway. Tanzmann had a shady past and whilst I\'ve heard the rumours about U-boats to South America I was unaware of any arriving with such people in the UK.
Any help would be most appreciated.
