<HTML> Hey, sinking Wilgelm Gustlof was not a piece of cake by any means. My grandfather served in the russian navy during WWII. The boat was a part the biggest naval convoy in german naval history. It among those aboard the boat were submarine crews, luftwaffe and mechanized infantry cadets. There were refugees, but most of the passngers were military personnel.
Shickelgruber declared A.Marinesko to be the \"personal enemy of Germany and furer #2\". It\'s about as good as it gets for a russian officer. This kind of recognition is probably even higher honor than getting awarded \"Hero of the Soviet Union\".
Marinesko actually attacked from the surface, which was pretty much suicide, considering the circumstances. His sub was too slow to attack from the depth. This is amazing, having an old, crappy and slow sub he managed to sink a well-guarded military transport. It\'s also amazing how he could get away with this attack, the germans tried hard to nail him. Marinesko actually fired 4 torpedoes, one has malfunctioned and it never left the torpedo tube.
These guys fought for their country, risked their lifes and deserve some respect.
Regards,
