I think Erich Topp and Reinhard Hardegen were very skillfull commanders and showed great chivalry.
Having read their biography I have the greatest respect for them.
But my favourite one is Werner Hartenstein.
Don\' t forget that he passed from surface ships directly to u boat command and rapidly became one of the top scorers of the u boat force.
The humanity he showed after the Laconia accident is for me an example of humanity in a big tragedy like a war is.
