<HTML>If you want atmosphere - the last time I went to see HMAS Onslow at the Australian Maritime museum(Sydney) they had an air-conditioning problem.
Entering from the forward topedo loading hatch we were only allowed to go as far as the control room due to the heat.
Both the conning tower hatches and the torpedo hatch were open providing a bit of ventilation, but the temperature in the control room was still over 37 centigrade!
As visitors couldn\'t leave through the aft torpedo hatch everyone was forced to pass each other in the narrow corridor - I would hate to have to do this quickly.
Just noticed - Fremantle (Western Australia) is setting up a Submarine Museum based around Onslow\'s sister boat - HMAS Ovens. You can find out a bit more about it at [www.mm.wa.gov.au] - there\'s also a list of the submarines that were based in Fremantle during WW2.
I remember being impressed with the Museum when I visited in 1995 - they seem to have done a lot more work since then. Looks like a little trip back to the west coast is in order.
Cheers,
