5 for murdering fellow POW Kunze at a camp in Oklahoma. 2 for strangling fellow POW Horst Guenther at a camp in South Carolina.

Another POW, Edgar Menschner, had his death sentence (for beating to death fellow POW Hans Geller at a camp in Arkansas) commuted by President Truman to 20 years at Ft Leavenworth--so presumably, he was finally freed.

Someone was kind enough to send me details about the other 7 POWs, and I\'m still searching for that info. My feeling was, that the other seven were probably rightfully executed for definite crimes. However, the 7 U-boat men did not kill Drechsler for any gain, other than they felt it their duty to silence an informant, who was a traitor, since he could be costing the lives of fellow U-boat men still fighting the war at sea. None of the U-boat men were happy with what they did, but had felt duty-bound to do it.

Once I look up this info, if it turns out the other seven did murder fellow POWs in cold blood, I won\'t place flowers or flags on their graves--but will leave it up to the German-American woman who does this for all 14 graves (I\'ve never met her, by the way). However, the 7 U-boat men--unpleasant as it was--did what they had to do, and I will still recognize them. Their actions were honorable, thinking only of their Kamerads still fighting at sea.
