<HTML>Dear Frank (and the rest of course),

What is your source?

I tried to find anything about this on various websites, but i have not been able to find something.

I could find nothing on the Dictionary of Amarican Naval Ships site
(http://www.hazegray.org/danfs/carriers/cv16.htm),
on this site you can find quite a detailed history of the (second) USS Lexington.
If she was attacked by a U-boat, as you say, and the U-boat was forced deep by the escorts after firing one torpedo, the attack was noticed.
The attack on USS Texas (also on this forum) was not noticed by the battleship and you can find a hole lot of information on this incident on the internet.
I can\'t imagine that there was nothing writen on the internet about the attack on USS Lexington.

So i start to think that there was not such an attack on the USS Lexington.

Best regards,
Brian
