<HTML>Hi Jay,
Both the type 7 and type 9 initially carried solid wooden dinghies aboard, which were replaced by 5 man inflatables. Stowage places for those dinghies were under the weather deck forward just aft of the fwd torpedo hatch on the type 7 and aft of the aft torp hatch of the type 9. Additional 2-man and 5-man inflatables were later on in various loacations in presssurized containers under the foredeck and in the tower-extensions. Rgds, RB</HTML>
