The word for Barbarian is yabanjin
\'Jap\' is widely recognized as a derogatory and degrading nickname. That is precisely why Capt Duffy uses it. Germans do not like being called \'krauts, nor do British enjoy being called limeys, even though the origin is \'innocent \' enough.. It is not the origin, but the contemporary intent that makes the terms improper. Same as n.... comes from the latin word Negros for black - innocent enough. But hardly an appropriate word to use, because of what it means in contemporary minds... just because a word is shortened does not mean it is a nice word. The forum rules clearly state that deragatory language towards any person or group is improper...
