<HTML>Baka means \"bad\' in its main sense. It can also be used in the sense of \"crazy\" rather than \"fool\" \"fool\" implies some innocence or naiveness. Baka in the sense of \"crazy\' implies malice in nihon go.
\"baka ne\" as an expression would have to many implications / translations to list here for lack of space, none of which mean anything good.
Japanese, like Chinese etc. are also very depreciative words in their origin (and still in everyday use and meaning) by the use of the suffix -ese.
I suggest that the words \"Englese\" and \"Amerikanese\" be brought into use, in referring to persons.
