<HTML>Hi all
This the title of a book (essay) by Kenneth Macksey, I´ve just finished to read.
It has two chapters dedicated to estudy and analyze the causes of the u-boat defeat:
Chapter 8th:THE DECEITS OF THE INSPIRATION
Battle of the Atlantic, first phase
critical failures:
-Failure of the German of not granting the proper importance to the underwater war and its ramifications.
-German failure upon not giving priority to the attack against the escort ships and by the reluctance of Goering to destine sufficient airplanes in support of the battle of the Atlantic.
-The German moratoria of 1940 regarding various fundamental technical developments, included the radar.
-The carelessness in the electronic discipline.
Chapter 9th:PUNISHMENTS FOR THE LITTLE IMAGINATIVE ONE
Battle of the Atlantic, final phase
Critical failures:
-German failure upon not appreciating the amplitude of the technological threat of the enemy, of fact a tendency to despise to its oponentes in particular in the field of the radar.
-Late put in service of the tanker submarines.
-Inflexibility of Dönitz upon facing to various fundamental problems, united to that the personnel of its head quarters was scarce and with a field of action too much reduced.
-German failure upon not granting priority to the development of the fast submarines.
Has anyone of you read it?
Any comments?
Best regards
