that the Allies had cracked the Enigma codes, and continuing to use it to
micromanage U-boats, led to many ambushes and losses of U-boats and
even Japanese subs in the Atlantic. Although the allies attempted to hide the fact that they had cracked the Enigma, the circumstantial evidence that they had done so
was overhwelming, yet no one in a position of high authority in Germany wanted to
believe it.
