Lookout\'s Report

<HTML>Can someone please tell me how u-boat lookouts reported sightings? Did they use a clock system as in aviation? Points of the compass? Bearing? Somewhere I remember reading about a color code for port and starboard. And if it\'s not asking too much to ask could someone give me an example? For instance, if a u-boat were facing south and an aircraft was approaching from the northwest, how would the lookout report the position of the aircraft? I know...this is asking a lot, but someone on this forum always has the answer. Thanks!
