I read the other night on the MARHST mail that Russian Naval Admiral had said that they were aware that the Kursk had a faulty torpedo on board but had no crane to remove it before she sailed on the exercise!! It was believed that the explosion of the rogue torpedo caused a chain re-action in the forends which explains the double explosion which was widely reported.
Sorry but I gave the hard copy I made of the mail to another of my research pals here, I will see him on Tuesday and recover it to tell you of the exact text.
