Very interesting reading about this U-166 find from Shell-BP.

U-166 was a Type IXC boat which she carried mines into the
Gulf of Mexico and on the 25th June 1942, she laid mines off the
Mississippi estuary in shallow water. No records of any ships were
ever sunk by these mines. SS Robert E Lee was sank by U-166
on the late evening on the 30th June 42, off the Mississipi Delta.

However, will the wreck of U-166 be left as is, as it a War grave.?
