<HTML>In WWII there were the so-called \'Milchkuhe\' (trans. Milk cows) which, as far as I know were made by combining two VIIC hulls to make for an impressive interior volume for the time. As far as capture, the only instance I can remember hearing about is of one captured in the southwest pacific by an american vessel (I spoke with a crewmember of that captured boat ... they became POWs and were taken to Ft. Carson Colorado) which is an interesting sidestory - the Germans had been shipping various goods to Japan this way</HTML>
