I can understand your argumention about Doenitz, but he was commander in a total war. The war against the supply lines of Great Britain was not against civilians. The duty of the Kriegsmarine and Luftwaffe was to sank ships and not to kill people. The sailors died on those ships because they operated a \"legitime\" military target. You can compare it with workers in a weapon factory, also civilians in a \"legitime\" target for air attacks. If you accuse Doenitz for leading a war against civilians, you can also accuse \"Bomber\" Harris and many, many other peoples. And please don\'t forget that the US submarines in the pacific fought like the U-boats in the Atlantic, when not harder.

And Steve.. please stop to offend visitors of this forum.
We have the freedom of opinion in uboat.net, if you can argument against the things JD Thomas had said, do it.. if not, say nothing.
