Empire Ruskin 18th January 1943

Any help appreciated.

Empire Ruskin, 7,037grt (MOWT, Thompson SS Co. mngrs) had been part of Convoy KMS-7G, which left the Clyde on 7th January 1943, arrived Algiers on 21st January. Returned in Convoy MKS-8, departed Bone on 17th February 1943, arrived Liverpool on 1st March. So what happened on the 18th January causing the death of these men below. The CWGC denotes "Special Memorial" which I would interpret as they have no graves. Nothing mentioned in Lloyds Vol. II. About six month after this she was handed over to the Dutch Government and renamed Van der Capelle.

COSIER, Fireman, FREDERICK, SS. Empire Ruskin (South Shields). Merchant Navy. 18th January 1943. Age 25. Son of Ada Cosier, of Melbourne Australia.

DICKSON, Fireman, THOMAS, SS. Empire Ruskin (South Shields). Merchant Navy. 18th January 1943. Age 20. Son of Elizabeth Dickson, of Frenkie, Fife.

FREE, Able Seaman, JOHN, SS. Empire Ruskin (South Shields). Merchant Navy. 18th January 1943. Age 21.

GRAHAM, Fireman, BERNARD, SS. Empire Ruskin (South Shields). Merchant Navy. 18th January 1943. Age 20. Son of Janet Graham, of Milshill, Glasgow.

MUIR, Sailor, ROBERT, SS. Empire Ruskin (South Shields). Merchant Navy. 18th January 1943. Age 22.

THOMSON, Fireman, WILLIAM, SS. Empire Ruskin (South Shields). Merchant Navy. 18th January 1943. Age 36. Husband of Agnes Thomson of Glasgow.

WILSON, Able Seaman, JOHN, SS. Empire Ruskin (South Shields). Merchant Navy. 18th January 1943. Age 23.

WITHERS, Able Seaman, PETER, SS. Empire Ruskin (South Shields). Merchant Navy. 18th January 1943. Age 27.
