Allied Subs and friendly fire???

At various points in the war Allied Subs came into conflict with German U-Boats.
This would mean that the allied sub would have to be in an area of U-Boat concentration.I have seen instances of Allied Subs in the Atlantic\\\'North Sea and Bay of Biscay shooting Torpedoes at U-Boats.

My question is how did these Subs avoid being sunk by Allied aircraft.
I understand that there may be designated zones to operate in\\\'that their own allies will be told not to sink subs in as they may be their own\\\'but these subs are operating within U-Boat heavy areas and therefore any Allied plane coming across a surfaced Submarine is going to shoot first and ask questions later.

So were allied subs fitted with their own radar warning devices to advise when their own allied planes were near or did they send out beacon signals\\\'that allied planes would pick up and identify as friendly??
How did Allied subs avoid friendly fire?
