<HTML>Dear Frank:
In both the raider MICHEL and the supply ship UCKERMARK loud speakers were mounted in the prison quarters. I cannot recall any familiar music ever being played. I doubt very much that any American jazz or contemporary popular music recordings were available under the Nazi regime.
As to repetitiveness, the commander of the MICHEL reportedly became so enraged at hearing a number that was played daily, marched into the radio room, snatched the disk from the turntable, stepped to the rail, and gave it a last spin - into the South Atlantic Ocean!
Cordially.
George. </HTML>
