<HTML>There were some massive German coastal artillery in Norway. They are now tourist places.

There are very few engagements between ship and coastal artllery because its the sort of battle, ships avoid because as I showed land based artillery is both more accurate, cheaper and better protected. The only real advantage and best defense is for a ship to run away.

However there were some battles betwen the Germans and the Western Allies

In 09 Apr 40 the Blucher was basically destroyed by coastal guns.

SIKH, 14th September 1942, Eastern Mediterranean, off Tobruk, eastern
Libya by German shore batteries.

The only time I know that coastal artillery was used in a major battle in WW2 was between the Fins and the Russians at the battles at Koivisto. This battle may be interesting in showing how dangerous it is for a ship to engage coastal defenses.

Finland had only World War I equipment in quite bad state of repair and
no airforce.

A major battle was fought on 18 DEC 1939. The Russians fired 400
heavy shells and 200 bombs by air into battery area. The Finnish losses
were five wounded. Not one gun knocked out.

The battleship Marat the next day went into the battle against the Finish
artillery. It fire was very accurate in fact almost all the Marat shells
landed within 150 m of the fire control tower. This battle took place
over 24 kilometers. The casualties on Finnish side were two killed and
three wounded. The gun was no effected.

Later some Finish guns were knocked out but the fact is that although the Russian threw in massive number of ships from the Baltic fleet including battleships and airplanes this fleet they never managed to destroy the fort or silence its guns.
