<HTML>Evening Jan & Josef,
I think that you are both testing the old hands with this one.
According to all the info on my databases and in my library convoy HX48 did not have any ships sunk BUT I take that to be from the actual convoy. This then begs the question about Balmoralwood sunk on 14/06/40 as my records show her as being a straggler from HX48 but I do not have a date as to when she lost contact with the convoy.
This leaves me with Italia & Erik Boye the first sunk on 14/06/40 and the second sunk on 15/06/40 according to my records both were part of HX47.
Jan has rekindled my memory with this question as I recall trying to get the actual convoy plots from the Public Records Office about seven or eight years ago and although I did get some convoy escort reports from HX47 & HX48 I could not find any Senior Officer (Escort) plots of either of the convoys. My thoughts at that time were that the HX47 stragglers may have been caught up by HX48 and the plots would have given me the answer as to the proximity of the two convoys.
I\'m sorry not to be more helpful on the topic but it has rekindled my interest in the two convoys.
Regards to All
Ted A.</HTML>
