<HTML>\"a moral responsibility to pick up the survivors\" ??
Seems to me World War II resulted in the conclusion that submarines
should NOT be governed by the Cruiser Rules.
So what you are saying is that the U-boat/American/British/Italian/Japanese submarine should sink the ship, surface--(or perhaps they should surface for the attack too--would that make it morally right?), pick up the survivors, and take them to port or something? That \"moral\" obligation is entirely unrealistic. are you saying perhaps that submarines shouldn\'t be used at all since it is virtually impossible for one to fulfill this moral obligation you speak of?
I know you said you don\'t want to talk about this anymore (?) but I thought you were making some interesting points though I didn\'t necessarily agree with them. You said that survivors are helpless and shouldn\'t be shot/left to do but then you said something about a survivor killing his rescuers and I pretty much lost you there.....
