<HTML>Perhaps the best of the recent books on U-234 and its cargo is J.M.Scalia\'s
\"Germany\'s Last Mission to Japan: The Failed Voyage of U-234.\" According to that book, Bulla was amember of the staff of Luft. Gen. U. Kessler who had just been
appointed air attache to Tokyo. Bulla is referred to as a \"naval aviator,\" and boarded U-234 in Kiel (Kessler and a few other boarded in Kristiansand Norway). Bullas served as first officer for U-boat Commander Fehler on the raider Atlantis. Fehler appointed then-passenger Bulla as his first officer on the U-234. There are numerous references to Bulla in the book and a lot more info on him than I can provide here. Hope this helps.
