Drastic action!

<HTML>I\'m reading a book and I read this :
...\"Damaged by the collision, \"Hesperus\" returned to Gibraltar, where she was highly commended for his agressive attack, but also reminded of the urgent need to prevent Germans from abandoning ship and scuttling, so that \"secret papers\" (enigma machines, keys and documents) could be recovered. To prevent scuttling, boarding parties were again - and specifically- authorized to take \"drastic action\" with weapons to \"keep the U Boat crew below.\" That is, shoot any Germans attempting to leave their sinking ships.\"

Again I bring this subject to the forum \"War Crimes\" because I just dont know if there are cases of \"DRASTIC ACTION\" in the U Boat War!!!!
Anyone who have opinion about this??
