Yes although I am not sure as to whether he was too embarrassed or just made a mistake on those rather complicated toilets. There is also evidence to suggest that the leak may have occured after running into wreckage. flooding of the forward section left him with no alternative other than to surface. U-1206 was subsequently bombed and the U-boat scuttled. 1 died, 3 drown and 46 were captured.
