WW2 German u-boat clock

Hi

I have what I believe to be a German WWII brass clock face. This belonged to my late father who obtained it on a fishing trip in Scotland in the late 1980s. He traded it for some fishing tackle with a local who claimed to have retrieved this from a sunken U Boat somewhere (I believe) off the coast of Scotland (date unknown). Please could you tell me if it is possible to trace the submarine that this may have belonged to? Is it possible to trace using the numbers on the face - 2795? I am unable to attach photos through this service so if you reply I will be able to send some.
