How can I confirm a crew member?

<HTML>Hello all,
The father of a tailoress at my work apparently served on a U-Boat during the war (later becoming a POW in France). Among his effects (he died some years ago) was a sea horse in brass. My research indicates this was worn by members of U97, 267, 708 and 776.
Is there a site, club etc etc that i can contact to verify if the member did in fact serve on any of these boats?

His name was Ernst Hauth - a Petty Officer Electrician??. He was in the HJ Marine pre war and also served on the \'Deuchsland\'. Unfortunately my friends recollection of her father are vague - as he was reluctant to discuss his service.

As a POW he served on a French minesweeper.

Hope someone may be able to steer me in the right direction as I would love to be able to give my firend some details on her father.

All the best and thanks in advance.
