During WWII four schooners from the colombian Islands of Saint Andrews and Old Providence (western caribbean) were sunkeen by submarines. Resolute (June 1942, U-172) , Ruby (December 1943, U-516) and Roamar (ex-Urious) (July 1942, U-505). Envoy was also sunken, but no document I have consulted so far reports this incident. The surviviors report that they were sunken when rammed by a surface vessel. One book ( "Colombia Nazi" by Sylvia Galvis and Alberto Donadio) published a facsimile and translation of the german war diary entry in which skipper Karl Emmerman reports the sinking of Resolute. The texts of this entry is translated by Jerry and Charla Mason. Survivors of Resolute were flown to Panama the day after they made it to Sanit Andrews in a canoe, and interrogated by US authorities stationed in Colon.
My questions: Can anyone provide the facsimile and/or translation of the war diary entries corresponding to the sinking of Roamar and Ruby?Can anyone provide the text of the interrogation of the survivors of Resolute, done in Panama by US personnel?Are the log of these subs( U-516, U-505 and U-172), available for consultations, and where can they be found?
