<HTML>Hi Chris
I once heard a rumour that a u-boat surfaced in St Francis Bay and the commander let the crew go ashore. While researching this with a long time resident of the area, (found out that this was not true and that these types of stories exist all along the SA coast) he mentioned that a u-boat was anchored in Algoa Bay as a target for the SAAF schools in PE. Apparently this boat broke loose during a storm and was washed up somewhere in the Cape St Francis area. Fishermen are said to have fished off the wreck. As to the boat number or the validity of the story, I have no idea.
Please let me know if you discover anything.
Kind regards
