I was never at Portsmouth. I was stationed at the Ordnance Investigation Lab. at Stump Neck Maryland. Since they were booby trapped, the cargo tanks were shipped to us in order to render them safe.
If interested in the true story of the incident as I have hands-on experienced it, I will gladly send a hard copy of my documentation of the event. If so I will need your mailing address.
I am in contact with the historian, Joseph Mark Scalia who wrote "Germany's Last Mission to Japan. He agrees with at least part of my documentation.
