Hi All,
We went through something like this years ago and it still comes up today from time to time. The wreck in question is located off Jeremie Haiti and was supposed to be a U-boat & some of the locals in the area even confirmed it. It was discussed over & over again here on the forum until it was finally determined to be an extensively surveyed wreck of a Spanish-American War era gunboat, lying in just 10 to 15 feet of water. The steam engine (allegedly, the conning tower) is exposed above water at low tide. If you use the forum search feature for “Jeremie” (all dates) you will find posts going back over a decade. Some of those folks posting were certain it was a U-boat ...
My suggestion on this one is to wait & see what it actually is since we don’t have proof at this time. Like Rainer, I seriously doubt it is a U-boat. Let’s just hope it doesn’t take another decade before whatever it is can be identified here on the forum. We don’t need another 10 years of posts on this topic.
Regards,
Ken Dunn
