<HTML>Thanks for your help folks. I am pursuing a story from the local people (incl. family) along the New Meadows River (actually an inlet) near Bath, Maine. This is between the Brunswick Naval Air Station and the Bath Iron Works (liberty ship producer). In summer 1942, those with homes on the water saw a surfaced U-boat appear in the river. One local man rowed out only to return saying they weren\'t friendly and didn\'t speak English.
From then on, locals reported lights signalling from the water and after the war, German papers and code books were found in the attic of the local Yacht club.
I\'ll have to see if the archive in Germany has any records.
