<HTML>All countries with a few exceptions have standard maritime Survey requirements. These may differ slightly, but the basics remain the same. However, to be in survey for public use, the vessel has to carry safety equipment relevent for that country. In the case of replica Ships such as the \"Endevour\" these requirements still apply, so your type VII would have to comply in all areas. However, wether or not different rules apply to Submarines I know not, but there are a number of Public carrying vessels in operation, some with the capacity to carry up to twenty people.(take a look at the ones produced by .US SUBS .com), that operate here in Australia and the U.S. I often wonder how they would evacuate fare paying passengers if one of these things malfunctioned. The type VII that was built for the movie U-571 was apparently seaworthy( and possibly in survey) but obviously had no capacity to dive. However it was powered by two Cummins Diesels and had a360 prop. It was capable of around 7 knots. I would guess that it was steered from the Tower. It is by the way for sale, or at least was.</HTML>
