<HTML>I\'ll answer your questions point by point.
You mention the Hunley. Even though the Hunley has now been raised. It will take at least seven years for chemical treatments to restore the Hunley to a state where it won\'t disinigrate. And that is for a boat that is 50 feet long and 6 feet wide. Can you imagine the amount of work and time it will take to raise a U-boat?
As for people who would put up the money, why would they? Historic replicas are not exactly a cash cow business. You\'re asking people to risk money for ambigous ends. For cars and planes, that need less money than a sea vessel, the investment might be worth the risk. Plus, if you were going to operate the U-boat on the high seas, you would have to keep on shelling out money for fuel and provisions. That\'s a lot of money to put a relic \'on tour\' and loaning it out to filmmakers once in a while.
By the way, if Hollywood wanted to make another U-571 movie. I would take the U-boat and blow it up.
