Look at the "Patrol Pages" for "Monsun Boots" assigned to the 12th Flottilla in Bordeaux France but often sent back and forth on shuttle missions to the UBoot bases in Penang and Batavia; some boats were based in those East Asia bases and operated in and out of them, rather than returning to France. (Note: There were also a few missions from northern German or Norwegian bases late in the War.)
The boots most likely to be sent on these missions were Typ IX-D2 Uboots. Look at the page [www.uboat.net] - the maps of patrols will show you their routes.
If there's not enough data there, some of the IX-C boots were also used for Indian Ocean service. Also, a few boats went around Cape Horn and operated in waters there and then returned to a French base - the patrol maps will also show these.
