My father sailed on HMS Lowestoft and HMS Cygnet under Lt. Cdr. Proudfoot until June 1945 when he was demobbed. My research hasn't yielded much info beyond that he (Proudfoot) served on HMS Hood as a midshipman and made it to Lt. before retiring. He was called up to command HMS SkipJack (sunk by mines in the relief of Dunkirk in 1940) and went on to command the above. He died somewhere in Cambridgeshire c1980. Can anyone help?
