Question is there any proof that there were survivors from this U-boat. With Axel's updated book on U-boat WW2 losses, her loss and that of U326 have been changed back to the original causes, that U326 was sunk by retro bombs from Catalina 'R' of USN VP-63, while U1107 was sunk by a homing torpedo from Liberator 'K' of USN VPB-103. He states U326 was lost with all 43 crew, but [at least 37 crew were killed on U1107, suggesting survivors. I have been unable to uncover any record of 'survivors being rescued or that they were not. With both boats being caught and sunk while submerged and using their schnorkels, survivors I would have thought, surely be unlikely, and if they were, then the aircraft should have seen them. Another source, Clay Blair, he states that only oil and debis was left from both attacks, with one body from U326, although he as VB-103 as her killer and VP-63 as having sunk U1107, which a RN Group came up and only found oil.john
