This ship as mentioned back on 8.13.2007, was sunk by U124, the five survivors, two in an open boat and the three on a raft were all eventually rescued. Having come across a copy of Edwin P. Hoyt's 'A pictorial History U-Boats, U124 is mentioned several times. On page 111 it shows two photographs of three men on a waterlogged raft, which for all intents and purposes useless unless in a dead calm sea. The caption states and a photo confirms that they had a line thrown to them and pulled to the U-boat, 'but not quite sure what will happen next'. Seeing they lived long enough to be saved, would the C/O [Schulz] have given them a more suitable craft and supplies as to at least give them a chance of survival? Or were they very lucky and the seas remained calm for the week it took before they were picked up by HMS foxhound? john
