<HTML>Hi

I posted this a while back and nobody has been able to answer-perhaps it should be included in one of the Trivias? Why would a U-boat have H47 on the conning tower? Deception (Some of the u-boats operating off Mozambique were mistaken for Japanese boats) or something else?

One of the Alcoa Pathfinder\'s survivors (sunk by U-181 off Mozambique in November 1942) noted that they were questioned by Luth and that the boat displayed a large H47 on the conning tower. I have looked in U-boat Emblems by Hogel and am unable to find this series of letters/numbers. Anybody know?

Please help
