The BdU war log for 12 June 1944 notes the sighting of periscope by F/59 at 0945, under section "reports by the enemy, U-boat sightings of boats in the Atlantic". Notes position as BF1542. Also suggests that its "one of the (Schnorchel?) U-boats entering the channel from the North Atlantic.

One of these schnorchel boats was U-1191. Although thought to have been sunk near to the wreck of U-269 on the 25th by hunter/killer group, did read that its one of the most intact wrecks found... makes me wonder if it floundered over a period of time and just happened to finally rest in its "proposed" position... contact was lost since about the 12th was it not?

Just a question about the war logs, the first section giving boats and area's, how was this info compiled? Last known position, or area ordered to?

Thanks,

Lorenzo.
