Under key name of Operation Vogel (bird), with agitated sea, in the night from 12th to 13th April 1.943, the crew from U-167 was transported by a Woermann-Olinie tug-boat, from steamship \"Corrientes\" to U-455, which was awaiting 3 miles
in front off Las Palmas Port, out of Spanish jurisdictional waters.
The operation was very difficult due to sea state, and even some submarine crew member and baggages had a cold bath.
Until 16th April U-455 was sailing with her valuable cargo , and then distributed it
between U-154, U-159, and U-518 which all three arrived home without novelties.
Only II WO Ernest Semmel from U-167 crew stayed at Las Palmas, in order to be iin charge of the repatriation of the crew.Leutnant zur see emmel came back with Spanish fishermen to the sinking position of U-167 in order to pick up possible
floating equipment and check the remains of the wrecking...
...5 months later LzS Semmel came back Germany, ovbiusly in a different channel from the rest of the crew.\"
