RE: modern torpedoes and a modern tojnnage war

<HTML>Good question. I sometimes worry that the U.S. and China may go to war. Assuming we don\'t nuke each other back to the stone age, one army or another would have to invade and then be supplied by merchants until the war is over.
I really don\'t think that an army can be supplied completely with aircraft alone.
I have no idea if todays torpedos can cut it against a modern merchant. But if they can\'t, rest assured, improvements will be made.
Let\'s not forget, the American subs at least have the Tomahawk cruise missiles that I\'m sure can seriously damage a merchant.</HTML>
