Greetings...
I am looking for any information concerning German ships sunk between September 10 and October 4, 1943 that were retreating from Corsica and happened to have survivors that were picked up by the British.
I have found some information about the Nikolaus (6397). It seems that the Nikolaus was sunk by ORP Dzik (P 52) but I have found no information about survivors or where exactly she went down. I find it hard to believe that Romanowski would slip into such a small harbor during an air raid but perhaps he did.
Side note...if anyone has information on what happened to the German POW's that were captured on Corsica in October 1943 that would also be helpful, including if they were sent to POW camps in Canada and the route they would have taken to get there.
Thanks again...
