<HTML>Helmuth von Ruckteschell was a World War I U-boat commander with 10,000+ tons to his credit. In 1940, at age 49, he commanded the raider WIDDER, and then in 1942-3 the raider MICHEL. I doubt that the SKL ever considered him or any of his peers for U-boat commands in 1939-45.
